You can test your blood for hormone levels. To test for human growth hormone deficiency, they inject you with insulin before drawing blood. I sent an email to a foundation for adult acquired growth hormone deficiency to see if anyone has chapped/peeling lips. As you can see from the hormone article link, there are so many hormones that can affect the skin. Since I have something going on with my pituitary gland, I do not know if it could the growth hormone. There may or may not be a relation.

Zinc or magnesium deficiency can affect the pituitary gland, too.
