IMHO what causes all the anguish we see on the question of mainstream medicine vs alternative medicine, is the problem of people becoming emotionally attached to either one. Instead of using critical thinking, to come to an informed decision, about a protocol, treatment, remedy etc, people lump all protocols, treatments etc into either maninstream or alternative.
The thinking being that, "it is an alternative therapy, so it must be correct" or "it is a mainstream remedy, so it must be correct", depending on which system you have 'faith' in. Thinking then becomes circular logic, rather than critical thinking.
Closing your mind to ideas, because of an emotional attachment to either alternative medicine or mainstream medicine, will prevent you from leaning anything.
