Re: best way to build bone??

What is the best way to build bone for someone that is mag. deficient with a lot of bone loss? does dhea help?

I definitely DO NOT recommend fooling with DHEA or other hormones.

Silica is the most essential nutrient for bones. Without sufficient silica the bone will lose its collagen matrix, which is what gives bones most of their strength. Silica also aids in calcium absorption and is responsible for the mineralization of the collagen matrix. Next comes vitamin C, sulfur, zinc and copper as well as various amino acid compounds (lysine, hydroxylysine, proline, hydroxyproline and glycine). These make up the rest of the collagen matrix. Many other nutrients are needed for healthy bones though. These are calcium, magnesium, boron, phosphorus, natural fluoride, strontium, manganese, vitamins A, D, E, K and essential fatty acids.

Green leafy vegetables, seaweeds, alfalfa, and nettle leaf are all great for providing a lot of these nutrients. Adding silica (food grade diatomaceous earth) to your water will also help.

If you are going to supplement magnesium avoid magnesium oxide/hydroxide and carbonate as these are poorly absorbed. I recommend magnesium malate as my first choice followed by magnesium citrate.

Also maintain your stomach acid as you need the acid to absorb nutrients for bone properly.

But remember that all of these nutrients will be of no use if you do not get enough exercise. Exercise stresses the bones allowing the bones to mineralize through a piezoelectric effect.

would also like to know about correcting bone deformities such as soft or misshaped bones - hope i am making sense

This is going to be tough. Once the bones have deformed they are not easy to fix without surgery. Start by strengthening the bones. If they are not too misshapen then the body may be able to deal with the deformity on its own by breaking down what it considers abnormal and rebuilding the tissue.
