Couldn't say for sure, but it seems like the sore throat/etc. could be die-off symptoms? Just because he had none on the last round, I don't see why he couldn't be having them this time. Myself I've only been through one round but I know I've read stories here of people having it worse on the 2nd or 3rd time through than their earlier ones.
