Re: No idea why guys are sad here
Yeah, there are so many mentions of foot fungus, bunions, venereal disease and dandruff in the ancient holy books! Those publications are the foundation of any good medical school curriculum.
Having skin inflammation is a common and bland condition - it is a mammilian affliction (from time to time, in some creatures) and not any huge new modern disease that just hasn't been comprehended yet by medical science.
My cheilitis was probably originally from foot fungus, and then was greatly worsened by having an allergic reaction to several things. Fungus and allergies are not new medical phenomena. Fungus is ancient, bacteria are ancient, etc.
Besides, I'm sure that as long as people have had tongues, teeth, and obsessive compulsive disorder, there have been some people who have bitten and obsessively licked their lips.
You can always ask your doctor if people had fungal infections, cancer, allergic reactions, etc. on their lips before 1994, before 1894...
Oh my goodness -- a published study on cheilitis from before my parents were born! Wow, they even had toothpaste back then? And allergic reactions to toothpaste ingredients? How modern of them.
