Flax mixes very well with yogurt. Way back about 8 years ago, I was diagnosed with IBS. For a time until I healed, my breakfast consisted of yogurt with flax seed mixed in. I'd either grind it up or just put the seeds in, I liked to chew them.
As for the dishes being impossible to clean after left dry. Not so. Put the dishes in hot, hot, soapy water (add boiling water from kettle if needed) and let them soak a bit, after dinner or over night. I'll bet that the dishes won't have to soak long at all.
