"The main reason that people feel like hell if someone else leaves is because you had an attachment based on feeling like "missing" something in yourself that you felt you got from the other person. Another name for this is codependency. I would venture a guess that 99.9% of relationships on this planet are based on that. You actually have those "missing pieces" in yourself but they may be hiding and need to be coaxed out.
Start asking yourself the tough questions. What did you get from person x? How can you get that from within?"
