Re: What to do with mice?
Our current dogs.
The blue healer was raised by the german shepard. The german shepard liked to kill all...hated every cat, rabbit, pigeon and all life forms...she killed and ate anything she could....she lived on the ice in the winter...she was tough! She never allowed a male dog on the property her entire life, she never had puppies, never took a drug, etc....
The blue healer lives today on the ice. She desires to kill everything; she is has hard headed as the german shepard was....she even digs up every mole, digs up every ground hog, she seeks to KILL ALL and command her area....
We have a austrailian shepard mixed with german shepard...much larger than the blue healer and much nicer dog...won't harm anything by her self////////// but she followed the blue healer and does everything evil that she does, even though she knows better...
THE CATS....
The old shepard allowed us to raise 1 stray female cat in her old age...the only cat she never killed. This cat had 6 kittens, we protected the kittens until they were almost adult. The Blue Healer tried her best to kill these cats...waiting to catch 1 alone and everytime she would crab a cat, the other 5 would come running and stick their claws into that dog like a pin cushion....in fact, they whipped that dog over and over and today the dog leaves the cats and teir kittens alone; but she continues to kill every other creature on the property...even the birds, etc..
I have threatened many times to get rid of her, but she is a very smart dog and has survived to keep her home here.
We have thousands of coyotes here....the dogs defend the property every night, all night....the coyotes will kill and eat any cat that walks to far away...The german shepard could not keep all the coyotes away, they would come up to the house and beat her up or make her so scared she would push up against the house door and bark like she was being killed, etc......while this much smaller blue healer has scared off all the coyotes, she barks at them all night and chases at them, keeping the at the property lines.....NO COYOTE ALLOWED....
YET, 20 years ago I had a german shepard that was a COYOTE KILLER...she would hunt them down and kill them and drag their bodies and line them up at our door steps every morning, often killing 2-3 coyotes per night. SO YOU just never know what a dog is going to do to protect its property.
The ONE thing I do know, DOGS belong outside....I would rather have mice in the mouse than a dirty dog or dirty cat. Birds are worse and reptiles are crazy to have in your breathing space. FISH pollute all your air.
