Your poor grandma...but grandpa got his. And the kids who never helped her, they'll get theirs someday.
Wow, life was tough for you as a child but I know what you mean about being happy poor.
I'm one of eleven who grew up in a seven room railroad flat in Greenwich Village. But I had a devoted mom and dad. Dad worked for the NYC transit authority full time and had a part time job but he was a happy man, never complained and loved us. Mom raised the kids. Didn't realize we were poor until I grew up. Neighbors loved my parents (and kids) and gave us their old clothes and shoes. But I wouldn't trade my childhood. We had a lot of fun together and helped each other. We also had a bathroom but 13 people in 7 small rooms was very crowded.
My dad too lied about his age when he was 16 to join the army. He was tall so got away with it. He said his stepmother was a wicked woman and had to get away from her.
You're right about the butt kissing...it's nauseating. Last year my co-worker couldn't wait to get an autograph picture of a famous person who came to my office and now it's hanging on the wall in her office for all to see.
Why would a man want to marry 7 different woman. He must not have been sane or it was for the money. Can't even imagine what kind of worms and diseases they all passed to each together.
Obviously you inherited talent from your successful family members but you're doing something important and real with your time here on earth.
A shame about that $100,000 bill.
As far as that client goes, he's obnoxious on the phone. But I'll have to come up with something like "hello, nice to finally meet you". Or maybe I should say "hello, good to meet you...looks like your age has hit you and a bottle of Spray III would do you some good". THis would put me on the employment line real quick. Can't imagine having any dialogue with him other than regarding work. My co-worker will get a lot of info out of him. He's 67 and just separated from his 30 year old wife (they were married 2-3 years). He's been married multiple times. Wednesday should be interestng and very annoying.
