My husband had it done too, now several years ago. It is important to look for a board certified doctor. I feel you should do one eye at a time to make sure it works.
It is amazing when we came home he already could see.
I must say when he had it done we were not aware of any horror stories.
He had worn glasses since childhood (50 years ago) and without them he could not recognize people from 40' away.
I only know this since one day we were in the shallow end of the pool and he did not know who was standing on the diving board.
He can now drive in the dark even when it is raining, while before with the glasses he did not do as well.
For fine print he uses reading glasses.
My eyes were never bad enough to have it done I just wear one contactlens for reading, but in his case he could hardly see anything without glasses.
