I would suggest to use another kind of pH paper. IMO the 2-10 range is too wide and has a wider margin of error by itself and by human eye interpretation.

I would suggest a pH paper of the range 4-8 and subdivided by .5 if possible.

Also, I think I read some time ago that the lowest the pH could be was 4.5 .

For someone who has been very acidic I would try to find a pH paper starting with 4.
