Re: Fasting and... Optimal Exercise
Mamaducky,
To try and clarify this thread about exercising while fasting.
Shelton only approved of exercise while fasting for weightloss. This has now been demonstrated not to be the ideal way of doing so.
Sheltons patients were usually emaciated and suffering from one form of chronic disease or another, and where by far his best results were obtained thru complete rest to maximize cleansing, healing, and the restoration of the vital force.
These patients did not have the energy or inclination to perform any form of exercise whilst fasting.
This experience has been corroborated by all Professionally qualified Natural Hygienists including Dr Isabelle Moser on whom I posted earlier.
However, todays fasters are not necessarily restricted by illness and not in an emaciated condition: they also have surplus energy in a relative state of wellness.
For this reason, exercise to a limited extent, and for short duration while fasting, can be extremely beneficial in stimulating the Lymph for elimination, as this has no pump leading to a potential myriad of health problems. But what I do take issue with is the statement that exercise generally will accelerate the "whole process" of detoxification, which is not my own experience or that of professional fasting supervisors generally from eons past.
Mamaducky, I am not against exercise per-se while fasting, and do not hold to any one particular dogma in this approach to healthcare or recovery, but each case has to judged on merit for its benefits or otherwise.
The crucial thing here is that any form of exercise (and I have only given my own opinion on the type that is ideal) should not lead to enervation, or does not tax the bodily energies, which would otherwise be used in the cleansing and healing process.
There is still no doubt in my own mind, and that of many others, is that in a state of relative wellness, short-duration exercise while fasting is beneficial, whereas in those who are ill or suffering from disease this is not the case at all.
If exercise whilst fasting leads to "feeling well" with more energy, this is only because the cleansing and healing process generally has been temporarily interrupted.
It would also be true to say that in a toxemic-free body, a fast of complete and absolute rest will produce no symptoms of detox and bring about a state of mental euphoria and an increase in strength up to a certain point during its length.
Q. How much exercise during a fast is beneficial during a fast in cleansing and stimulating the lymph?
A. Trial and error on a daily basis that is both mild and of very short duration, and that does not lead to enervation or over-taxation of the bodily energies.
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY.........IT IS THE VERY BEST GUIDE IN EVERYTHING.

"Mamaducky, if you were to stop posting in here, i for one would miss you and your thoughtful insights".
I agree with him.
Take care.
