Re: Fasting and Intelligence (Chrisb1)
Hi VeryGnawty,
some very good points.
I suppose a lot depends on how we define "intelligence" or even how we measure it.
Personally I believe that intelligence is the ability and speed with which we learn, memorize, and associate ideas and thoughts, or the ability to comprehend and to understand.
I personally believe that intelligence is predominantly genetic and influenced to a lesser extent environmentally.
To maximize our intelligence the Brain needs to function at its peak: this is achieved by "optimum nutrition" and freedom from any toxins within that organ (or the rest of the body) such as plaques: which will downgrade or reduce its function.
The Brain and nervous system are extremely sensitive organs; you only have to witness the behavior of someone with only modest excesses of alcohol to know this.
In the same way, if the Brain is deprived of its essential nutrients (even to a modest degree) and/or its function is impaired via toxins, then the measure of intelligence will be reduced, whereas the opposite would otherwise be the case.
