Thank you very much for your reply. I actually wasn't as specific in my question as i meant to be. Primarily in this section of the book, Dr. Shelton addressed the changes in intelligence while in the fast. What i was really interested in was the aftermath, the days, weeks and months to follow.
The one place that seemed to address both during the fast and the post fast was here:
Shelton: "Why should fasting result in an increase in mental abilities? Primarily, I think, because it affords the body an opportunity to throw off its load of toxins, hence the brain is fed by a cleaner blood-stream."
Only problem is that i am helping a friend to find an answer to this question and though there is no higher authority on fasting than Dr. Shelton, it's hard to go back to him with "he thinks" :).
Is there any additional good information out there that addresses more specifically the lasting effects of fasting on intelligence?
