The world’s healthiest meal: Curry
An Indian chef has claimed to make the 'world's healthiest meal' - a chicken and blueberry curry with goji berry pilau rice.
He claims that the ingredients used are helpful in preventing against every disease including cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
A single serving of this meal is said to contain antioxidants equivalent to 49 bowls of spinach, 23 bunches of grapes or nine helpings of broccoli. Antioxidants are health-boosting that are found in a huge quantity in this meal.
The chef, Gurpareet Bains, says that if the nutritional value is not inviting enough then the price may attract people to try this new health food. One portion costs £2.50 and it tastes pretty good too.
Bains said, "Combining these two genres of foodstuffs seemed logical in any quest to find the world's healthiest meal. The curry I have created is brimming with health-beneficial ingredients that could, if eaten regularly, deal a devastating blow to many diseases."
He spent two years to perfect this recipe. Bains is a nutritionist and former head chef who now lives in Bedford.
The ingredients like blueberries contain essential nutrients helpful in preventing against cancer and guarding the brain against the sticky protein that clogs the brain in Alzheimer's.
The second part of the meal which is pilau rice is flavoured with goji berries. These are already famous with celebrities like Madonna and Kate Moss and are found in the Himalayas loaded with vitamins A and C and iron.
The spices used are said to have an antiviral and anti-bacterial properties and turmeric is said to help keep heart, brain and joints healthy. Chicken was chosen because it has a wide appeal and is low in fat.
Bains also won the "Best Development Chef" on BBC show "Headhunters".
