I really don't know... I know that some of the clumpiness is tissue, which I assume is what's not needed for the unfertilized egg and so it's sloughed off, as you said. I do feel like my heavy periods aren't a sign of health, but I'm not sure I believe that NO period is true health. There is a lot of confusing information out there, it's hard to know what to believe. anyway, I don't think it's possible to escape the influence of synthetic estrogens in modern, industrialized life, so we have to deal with those effects as best we can. I had the same thing happen - I wasn't exactly a super sturdy kid, but I don't remember any chronic health issues or chronic pain until after my period started. It was kind of downhill from there.
