Wow, it must be the place for ladies of a certain age, I'm 42 and had pretty much the same problems as everyone here. Uterine fibroids caused me a lot of problems, cramping, pain, heavy bleeding. Iodine has taken care of that, and I now have no uterine fibroids.
I still had a hormonal imbalance, due to BC, I no longer use hormonal BC and have been drinking jiaogulan tea for the last 6 months. My periods are now normal, no pain, no heavy blood loss and about 3-4 days long. I've also tried Maca for hormonal balance, but the jiaogulan (adaptogen) is far more effective, and works quicker.
I believe that most women have, or will end up with reproductive health issues, if they take, or have taken hormonal BC.
All this talk about whether menstruating is natural for women is rubbish. The pathologising of women is what is unnatural, menstruation is a normal part of life, as is menopause, its the mucking around with women's hormones that is unnatural. We live in a crazy world, normal bodily functions have become diseases, you can't be sad or angry without it being a syndrome, and be medicated for it. Reproduction has become a 'science' instead of a natrual process, even childbirth has become increasingly medicalised. Old people are expected to keep having sex well into there 80s and 90s, (nobody thinks to ask if this is what they actually want), v1agra and similar drugs are used to achieve this. FFS, I could go on, but I'm sure nobody wants to here me ranting, (there's bound to be a drug for just such angry potatoes).
