Re: Quickie...Re: C is for Cayenne Tincture~!

Hi Momo, that is fantastic news, growing your own habbies and from seed is even more of an accomplishment!  Wow, 3 gallons of them, I'll join you in your excitement.  I've never seen a peachy colored habbie, mine were red.

Do you have any Debbie Meyer Green Bags?  www.greenbags.com/  You can get them from that website, on eBay and probably in some stores or from HSN.  I've been using them for a few years now and they really do keep produce much longer.  When I got my habbies they were ripe but I had to wait for the new moon so I put them in a green bag and stored them in the veggie bin of my fridge.  Just make sure they are completely dry before you store them in the bag.

If your habbies aren't ripe yet instead of ripening them in a paper bag I'd just let them set out until they were ripe, then put them in a green bag in the fridge until new moon.  I'm sure they'd keep fine.  I've got a head of lettuce that was hiding from me in my veggie drawer lol I found yesterday that had been in a green bag for going on 3 weeks now and I had a salad of it tonight, it was still crisp!

If it came right down to it and I was going to lose the habbies because they were going bad, I'd go ahead and tincture them even if it wasn't new moon.  I know you aren't supposed to but I'd rather do that than lose those precious habbies that you grew from seed!  We gotta do what we gotta do lol.  But I don't really think you'll have to worry about it if you get the green bags, especially since they aren't ripe yet.

Or, you could just dry them and use them in the new moon cycle but of course you'd have to adjust for the hotness for sure.  Maybe next season I'll try to grow some habbies, lots of them.

I'm having so much fun watching and shaking all my tinctures!  I can imagine how great you feel looking at what you grew from seed.

Blessings.

Willow
