I don't think so, otherwise this would have been used instead or as a replacement.
A sulfur-based protein is not the same as sulfur and protein as separate items.
A sulfur-based protein is a protein molecule with one or more sulfur atoms. When you mix the sulphur in cruciferous vegetables with a protein, as in your example, you do not create a sulfur-based protein which is the essence of enabling the fatty acid mixture.
