Re: Seb pics
Hi and thanks for coming back to me,
You are correct in assuming 6 weeks. I stopped cleaning up at the beginning of August. However, due to the waterfalling nature of the growth (mirrored on the top lip), one layer after another forms so I have to cut away the top layer as another forms beneath it. If left alone my guess is it would eventually morph into a beak.
I recently splashed out on a decent pair of surgical scissors and tweezers to cut away the keratin but I don't carry them with me.
The green liquid sits under the keratin. If I depress the keratin you can see the liquid disperse in all directions. When I eat, the liquid usually finds an escape route at the base of the keratin and turns from light to dark green and then to dark brown or black.
As for the condition of the surface of my lips (after clean up), I can only reiterate that it has remained in the same condition as it was when it first started. i.e. red, slightly inflamed and very sore. It's the keratinization growth rate that has intensified over time.
I have listed many of the med treatments I have undergone a couple of threads down from this one (see seb). None of which has proved successful. The most radical suggestion (and one which I have yet to consider) is Thalidomide, which an oncologist friend of mine suggested. Apart from the obvious side effects, apparently this is considered a wonder drug by much of the medical profession for its ability to restore tissue health and capillary flow at cellular level. I have yet to investigate this avenue but would consider it despite the often-cited side effects.
