Tyrosine comes from protein sources, and it is needed for the production of thyroid hormones.  So this can play a role.

But the protein is more likely giving you energy because it helps to stabilize the blood sugar.  Many proteins also have fats combined with them, which are the most efficient fuels for the body.  It could also be that the protein sources are also iron and B12 sources treating an anemia.
