Re: why???????
I would not recommend getting back to smoking or any other unhealthy habits, but yes, thoughts are more real than matter and I believe have a huge impact on overall health.
My mother-in-law recently passed away due to Alzheimers - she was ill for 6 years. The only unhealthy habits she had was being overweight, but I think her husband's selfishness and inconsideration had a far higher impact on her health than her excess weight. For example, he would not wait for her when they traveled in airports and would become impatient when she would not keep up with him, yet she had a prolapsed uterus that affected how well she could walk.
When they moved back from Wales, he would also primarily decide where to move to and started to furnish the house without consulting her much at all. In addition his decision actively cut her off family and friends that were located further away. The better and more considerate solution would have been to move back home closer to family and friends. He literally isolated her with his decision.
He on the other hand, despite being overweight, drinking alcohol quite a bit and pre-diabetic without changing his habits is doing reasonably well. So is my dad, who has similar health issues and smokes as well. They are both very negative people with no spirituality and they have no trouble to express themselves and take what they want. They suck the energy out from anyone who allows them to.
Perhaps it comes really down to how much a person can set healthy boundaries, while at the same time live a healthy life and be considerate and respectful of others.
