Re: symptoms of hypothyroidism?
Digital thermometers are accurate if you get a good quality one. The ones that take a temp from inserting into the ear, are the most accurate, often more accurate than ones you slip under your tongue or in your armpit.
An interesting thing about taking your temperature in the morning is that most people in western societies overheat themselves at night by too many covers, electric blankets etc. Or the ambient temperature of the room is too high due to central heating.
If you feel stuffy in the morning, blocked nose, puffy face, dry eyes , slight headache or sore and stiff muscles, it is possible that the body is too hot at night.
One of my professors at university did a study on this, from his research, the ideal ambient temperature of a bedroom should be about 10C, with only one blanket or quilt covering. He also recommended that all adults should sleep naked to balance the body temperature. As students we took part in his study, and it was found that the students who followed his recommendations were more alert in the morning, and achieved better results with their studies, lost weight, and were more active during the day than the control group.
The overheated students, did very poorly in the morning, were often tired during the day, study results went down, and many put on weight, and were less active during the day. During the study none of the students following the recommendations became ill, but all (but one) of the students that were deliberatly overheating themselves at night, became ill with colds and flus, and many had sore and stiff muscles.
something to think about,
