There are other more subtle benefits that have expressed themselves over time... most of them deal with improved and clearer thought, emotional, and spiritual, state.
I believe this has much to do with getting closer to the natural world... as humans, in an industrialized/electronic society, we have greatly removed ourselves from our natural world and the cycles within it, and replaced it with an artificial one where we control the cycles at our will and in effect, cause harm to ourselves.
Speaking of which, it is time to get off this thing and go exercise...
