Trapper, we have same but different memorial services here. Ft. Carson is home to a slew of Brigades, regiments, divisions... infantry, mechanized, air. The memorial services occur here, often. On post. We have to drive to them. We are constantly reminded of the losses via the news, but I often hear of things before. This is an event repeated often.
There is also another 'event' of sorts that is spiraling up that I have already found myself a part of. May post a little on it later, but it has to do with the poor services and treatment soldiers receive on return from combat missions, and what some are doing about it instead of sitting around and watching it on TV or reading about it...
Personally, we are out there doing something. It is wrenching as much as it is observing high expressions of patriotism.
