Re: Water fasting vs raw

Glass Goblet,

It is only in recent decades that calorie counting took hold as an idea in achieving weightloss. This was because of the onset and Westernized epidemic of obesity: the cause of which is mostly from a processed and adulterated diet.

Before that, most peoples relied on their natural diets with no weight problems.
You do not find that the indigenous populations of Countries where tribes and peoples lived from the land or from the ocean/sea suffered from obesity, and problems of being overweight. They did not need to "count their calories".

The "Basic Nutrition" that you mention is the stereotypical stance of Western organizations such as "The American Dietetic Association" who even proclaimed that the "Fit For Life" books and their authors, the Diamonds, were talking nonsense, except for the fact that hundreds and thousands of people who followed this eating plan lost weight permanently with the addition of optimum nutrition to go with it. Low calorie, high-water-content and nutrient-dense.

"All diets work..........and all diets fail", because of calorie counting.

"Many diets rely on tedious calorie counting"....Harvey Diamond........Co-Author of "Fit For Life".

You surprise me Glass Goblet as this is the basic message of Natural Hygiene and the fasting movement.

BTW, your comment that fasting keeps your bodys water levels at a very low level is also untrue. The body demands that it remains hydrated at approx' the 70% mark, whether we are eating or fasting and as demanded by thirst.

Your comment Glass Goblet........
"Also the body needs fat. Low fat diets are far too hard on the body. It can create Gallstones just like fasting".

Reply...........
Yes of course the body needs fat for optimum health and survival, especially the essential fatty acids, and where I would agree with you, this would be too hard on the body; but it isn't a low-fat diet that causes Gallstones, but more in the way of abnormal bodily secretions and excretions produced via a faulty diet
generally...........H M Shelton.

To clarify these points of yours..........

#1. "When you body drops under 1200-1000 (1500 for most avg males)calories, after a period of time you body will read this as starvation".

Comment.........
Fat burning or ketosis as a result of a low calorie diet is most definitely NOT starvation, but dieting or following a reducing diet to lose weight. Please do not confuse this with low nutrition.

#2. cutting your calories more than 1000 a day can also result in your body reading it as starvation. It is why you read stories of people who are obese and try to live on a 800 calorie diet that makes then stay fat.

Comment..........
Calorie restriction has been shown to greatly increase longevity (Luigi Cornaro) and is not related to "starvation" whatsoever.
The main problem is that you are confusing the meanings of the words "calorie" with "nutrition" and "calorie restriction" with "starvation", which are not synonymous.

This is basic Natural Hygiene, which recommends eating a high-nutrient-dense-diet that is simultaneously low in calories and optimal for man.
