From everything I have read, coconut oil can cause weight loss because it raises the metabolism. Olive oil would not have this effect, so maybe they cancel each other out in the weight gain department.

I find that using this much oil for each meal prevents me from feeling hungry between meals, so there is less of a need for mid-meal snacking, therefore less calories are consumed during the day.
