Re: Free Our Health Care Now! Petition

I have a friend who has been following all the various proceedings closely on tv, these are some of the ludicrous highlights she shared with me. Some of the proposals on health care reform: build more bike paths and parks, they don't want to introduce an excercise program in phy-ed in the school system even though this excercise program is proven to work, nothing was said about school food...if you go to your doctor and you have high cholesterol, or are a smoker etc. and you are not doing what it is they think you need to be doing to change it then you will pay more out of your pocket for your premiums/meds/dr visits.

Cap and trade: your home will be assessed for energy efficiency, the less efficient the higher you will be taxed until you get it up to code (this includes roofing, windows, siding, insulation etc). All new homes being built will need to use defined green materials...the problem with all of this is that it's only the elite that can afford "green" materials for their homes. This will in reality affect "middle" america, not the elite, they can afford it, the poor won't be penalized but rather given the money to upgrade their homes to the standards defined. You will be required to put an outlet for energy efficient vehicles in your garage. How many people own these things? So yeah, plan on being forced. Your home will not be able to go on the market until it meets the new building codes. Gas tax will essentially be .77 per gallon. You will get penalized if you work too far from home for using too much energy...it goes on and on like this...it's absolutely absurd. So people, plan on getting taxed more just for working in the wrong area that isn't close enough to your home. Oh and you will pay more for your premiums on your car insurance if you do not move over to an energy efficent vehicle.

I don't recall everything she shared with me, just these few things. They sound absolutely ridiculous to me, so we will see what happens.
