Re: Re: Bad advice given by respected charities and govts (this is why fasting is not mainstream) o/t

Well there is mo mention of fasting in "The China Study", but Dr Joel Fuhrman would completely empathize with his views in his talk, because he has experienced oppresion by big pharma, as can be seen in this short video.

Dr Fuhrman was once an Olympic grade ice skater and had his leg fixed by fasting, that's why he became a doctor. The plant diet he recommends is much the same as T Colin Campbell's advice, and that of John McDougall etc.

Fuhrman, McDougall and others often hang out together, while they don't always agree with each other on every point, I would imagine that if T Colin Campbell were asked about water fasting, he would probably say "it may well do" or something like that.

T Colin Campbell has not found the need to fast because correct diet prevents you from getting ill in the first place.

Since producing the book Fasting and Eating for Health back in 98, Joel Fuhrman now advocates a plant based diet and there is little mention of fasting these days. In fact, he insists people learn to eat properly before they fast, else the fast is wasted.

I agree with Joel Fuhrman's advice, based upon what I have seen on this forum. People here often ignore diet completely and plunge into long fasts without having eaten properly first, or with plans to go back to normal (disastrous) eating, thus they become "regular customers" here. Such actions do not show fasting in a very good light.

The other doctor that would agree is Alan Goldhamer, who runs True North Fasting Center in Santa Rosa, CA. http://www.healthpromoting.com/
However he says the same thing look at the video on that site and they mention the harsh reality of what a good diet is. You will also see from his article here http://www.healthpromoting.com/Articles/articles/benefit.htm
that he states:

"The Benefits of Fasting
By Alan Goldhamer, D.C.
IN THIS ARTICLE YOU WILL learn about some of the tremendous benefits that can be derived from a properly conducted fast. When properly utilized, fasting is a safe and effective means of maximizing the body’s self-healing capacities. The results can be truly amazing. Before going on to describe some of the many advantages of fasting, let’s define it. Fasting is the complete abstinence from all substances except pure water, in an environment of total rest. Let’s also keep in mind that fasting is only one part of the total health-supporting program we call Natural Hygiene.

Health results from healthful living. No matter how successful a fasting experience might be, it needs to be followed by a consistently healthy lifestyle. The requirements of health must continue to be provided — especially in the areas of diet, environment, activity and psychology."

So despite the fact that T Colin Campbell is not into fasting, I doubt that he would have any problems with it at all.
