The purpose of my post was to point out that oxidation of viruses could be done with concentrations less than those that would produce death.
I could also speculate that a 3 log reduction is overkill, and the immune system could take over with as little as a 0.5 log reduction.
The CT value was specific to African Swine Fever Virus, Coxsackie Virus, Foot and Mouth disease Virus, Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1, Polio Virus Type 2, PRRS Virus, Rhino Virus, and Swine Vesicular Disease Virus. The testing was performed by Bio Cide International to demonstrate the efficacy of chlorine dioxide as a virucidal product on hard surfaces.
I used this as an extreme case for demonstration. Water purification uses a CT of 1000 for comparison, but this also includes killing oocycsts. I believe it is much lower just for virus elimination.
I totally agree with you that no one know what the side effects are with these chemicals, and I don't think you can achieve a blood level of 2 PPM chlorine dioxide without doing damage to the red blood cells.
