Re: Had HBA1c blood test
oh you are so welcome lonefeather.
I have not heard my results yet but had a big scare recently. I am not even sure what to eat. My allopath who is very into alternative health told me to not eat any fruit or grains including whole grains or simple sugars and to eat 6 small meals with each balanced in good proteins, fats and veggies and exercise several times a day for a total of one hour but the dietary directions do not seem right to me. I thought whole grains were good for diabetics and if you have any ideas of what diabetics should eat, would you or any else mind passing that along.
I recentlyt saw a thin on the hallelujah diet which is vegan and 85% raw swhere several diabetics said they were cured. I do klnow eating lots of raw garlic is good for diabetics
My doctor recently sent me this info
"I downloaded a report called The Diabetes Reversal Report from the internet
http://www.DiabetesReversed.com
It has very practical suggestions for overcoming insulin resistance and lowering carbs and gradually adding some back.
He suggests up to 800 mcg of chromium in divided doses, pycnogenol ( pine bark) 80 to 150 mg divided in 3 doses, alpha lipoic acid up tp 600 mg a day, can get sustain release 300 mg twice a day or try multiple doses of 100 mg, cal vit D and Magnesium all at night 500 of ca, 800 of D and and 350 to 500 of magnesium divided doses and not to the point of having diarrhea, cinnamon 1 gm sprinkled on food through the day and the rest 4 gm as a water soluble extract 125 mg 3 times a day, acetyl L carnitine up to 2,000 mg a day in divided doses. gingko up to 80 mg 3 times a day, fenugreek seeds 2 gm a day ,gymnema sylvestre 260 mg twice a day after breakfast and dinner, mulberry extract 100 mg twice a day fish oil, whey protein, zinc, and fiber.
His diet suggestions are very close to The Fat FLush Plan and of course he recommends exercise but I like the 10 minutes after each meal not as strong as he suggests. He says for a while it is best to lower carbs to 20 gm a day. He has some interesting information on the carbs in nuts, vegetables, and fruits."
Hope this is of help to you and other diabetics and if anyone can give me advise on what you think about eating whole grains and fruits or if eating on glycemic index or some other plan is best.
I want to try some changes but not sure what is healthy and best.
