Re: 20.4 days
Thank you Msvic,
"curious...how are you able to break down the "real weight loss" from the "overall weight loss?""
I knew from many previous fasts that a good percentage of weight loss was tempory, mostly consisting of water (intestinal contents being 2nd) and especially in the first week or so. Each time i re-fed, regardless of how light i was eating, i would put 10 or more pounds back on very quickly, generally within 2-3 weeks.
The breakdown of estimated fat loss vs. estimated temporary loss was based on the following. I began at 192 pounds with a bmr of of what i estimated to be about 3000 calories and estimated roughly that this dropped by 200 per day for 3 days so i was then at about 2400... and then estimated a drop of about 100 per day for the next several days and then a 50 per day drop for the next several days.
I estimated fat burning to protein burning to be about 10:1, estimated 2 hours of brisk walking per day to burn about 800 calories per day which equates to about .225 pounds per day from that alone (3600 calories equates to 1 pound). By approximating my fat loss as closely as possible, i considered this to be my "real loss" and everything else to be temporary. The many weight logs i kept in past fasts (and post fasts) assured me that the swift return of this temporary portion of the weight loss was to be thoroughly counted upon... thus it could in no way be considered to be "real loss".
Based upon my bmr approximations and 2 hours of exercise per day, i estimate that i lost 1 full pound of fat in the first few days and each day a little bit less and less, rounded to .9 for a few days, then .8, then .7, then finally .6 and just kept a log with 2 separate colums, one for scale weight and the other for "estimated real weight" based on my original 192 minus only the fat loss.
Sounds complicated maybe, but i worked out these estimates for the entire fast in about 4 minutes ;).
If any points herein are still unclear to anybody, i am happy to do my best to clarify them.
