weaned off iodine, took beet kvass, now HYPERthyroid symptoms - need help!!!
After seeing a naturopath for low energy, breast cysts, and bodily aches and pains, she pointed to
Iodine deficiency as the cause of these things and suggested I take 50 mg/day. I did for two weeks and woke up one night anxious and jittery, weaned myself down to 25 mg and then had upset tummy, frequent bowel movements, and red puffy eyes. I decided to wean myself off the next week and was taking about 12 mg and then quit. I felt O.K. but warm, a little too uncomfortably warm. I was off for two weeks and then took beet kvass for the first time, apparently a powerful liver detoxifier and high in B vitamins. Since that time I have been extremely jittery, breathless, had no appetite, felt my heart beating fast, and have felt it almost intolerable. I have been doing the
Sea Salt flushes, taking Vit C, magnesium, but these haven't seemed to help, so I don't think it is a bromide issue. I have had some periods of time where these symptoms seem to be turned off like a switch and I'm O.K. for a little while, and then they rev up again. I am trying to make it through the weekend and hoping for mercy to be able to contact one of the doctors familiar with
Iodine therapy and bad reaction. One odd thing - my symptoms were more hypo before therapy, but after
Iodine supplementation I was always warm. After the kvass on the weekend, the unnatural warmth feeling went away and my feet are cold again, but I have all the other hyper symptoms. Anyone have a clue, a lifeline, something to get me through the weekend so I don't end up at E.R. where they know nothing about these forms of therapy and will rail me in and give me who knows what???
