What you describe is classic for gallbladder and liver pain. It can go on for a long time, or be intermittent with periods of time where you are comfortable, but it returns if you don't get to the seat of the problem. Taking out a gallbladder doesn't eradicate the problem. It may or may not stop the pain for a while. It may stop the pain for a long time.
