Re: Swine flu vaccine eight weeks away, says CSL
I don't know how the World Health Organization gathers it's information, but it's last weekly update of the swine flu spread in Australia is 39 cases (look at the chart on the WHO page here...
http://www.who.int/csr/don/2009_05_27a/en/index.html
...........above the chart it also has a link to see the graphic (.JPG) that shows the numbers for the whole world.
It doesn't seem that the WHO is too anxious to be as thorough as Australia itself in releasing truthful info (the global infection rates may be alot higher).
I'm in New York and haven't heard of too many deaths from swine flu. It seems that it's really no more deadly than regular seasonal flu. The "deadly" part seems to be caused by underlying health problems (diabetes, etc.).
The next link is to a radio show (video/audio is an hour long if you have time) that says that most of the deaths in the 1918 swine flu were in males 20-40 years old that already had tuberculosis but didn't know it (years of war and shortages of healthy food, etc. on the homefront no doubt contributed).
The first five minutes are just self promotion, then there is alot of "blah, blah, yada yada" until the 50 minute mark, then he repeats what I just wrote (in other words, he torments his audience because of a lack of self respect).

Because underlying health conditions are commonplace, the vaccine will probably do more harm than good (inflaming other maladies, interfering with medications, etc.), but it is inevitable.
Enter the search for "swine flu" at Wolfram (they have different numbers for the infection rate). Everybody calculates the statistics differently.
