Re: Blood sugar numbers coming down...still working on it

another one I heard is good for it is gtf chromium. I heard it was even better but whatever form you take, chromium is important.

GTF is not a singular chromium, but actually refers to several form of chromiums including the polynicotinate, which is the most effective of all the chromiums.

Also when taking herbs for diabetes, don't use capsules. It is best to use organic or wildcrafted tinctures from a company who soaks them long enough and uses lots of the herb like herbpharm or herbdoc.com Also making them yourself using organic bulk herbs is very important..like making a cinnamon tincture, gymnema sylvestre, etc

capsules are not easily absorbed

I have to disagree. Even though I prefer powders in general over all other forms of herbs, capsules are a good option. They are actually very easily dissolved, even in water. And they have a lot of advantages over alcohol based tincures including you get the whole herb, not just soluble components, they are cheaper, and there is no denaturation or chemical alteration of the herb as can happen with alcoholic extraction. There are also people that cannot have alcohol for various reasons, including allergies to alcohol and recovering alcoholics.

The ONLY time I ever bother with tinctures is in the very rare case that I need something that will absorb very quick due to an emergency situation. For example to stop an asthma attack. For chronic conditions though, the few minutes you save over taking powders on an empty stomach, like most herbs should be taken, is not worth the drawbacks to alcoholic tinctures.

and sometimes herbs are burnt in the powdering process.

Again I have to disagree. Yes, there is some heat generated during grinding, just as there is heat generated during cutting of herbs for making tinctures. But the amount of heat is not sufficient enough to burn the herbs. And many companies are now doing cryogenic grinding to eliminate all heat formation since certain herbs are very heat sensitive.

Tinctures are absorbed right away bypassing digestion and the menstrum (alcohol) extracts more of the pytochemicals from the herbs.

Yes and no. The body is actually very efficient in extracting compounds from herbs. Alcohol though does not extract everything, and it can actually alter the chemistry of many herbs. For instance high alcohol concentrations can denature echinacea. It neutralizes the active components of yohimbe. And alcohol reacts with alkaloids changing them to esters.

Also organic and wild-crafted herbs contain 7-10 times more of the phytochemicals that cure and prevent disease.

This is true for wildcrafted herbs, but not organically grown herbs. The difference comes from how they are grown. Organic herbs are farm grown, just like other non-wildcrafted herbs. These herbs are too coddled during growth to increase their pytochemicals. When plants are stressed, such as from high heat, drought, insect attack, etc. they produce more of their phytochemicals in order to protect themselves. Wildcrafted plants are constantly exposed to these stresses unlike farm raised herbs. So wildcrafted herbs are definitely more potent that any type of farm raised herb.
