Re: I know, it's about Dr Mercola who I now know is associated with WAPF n/m
Hi Willow,
lots of green smoothies...........easy on the digestion and extremely nourishing.
Another little story for you..............
I began my Natural Hygiene cure via fasting from Leukemia with the Hygienic eating protocol, which at that time (late 1970's) was largely lacto-vegetarian, but I decided to become a vegan instead, as anything to do with meat and meat products seemed so unclean and unpalatable.
After a number of years on a vegan diet I didn't feel as well or as energetic for my years as I thought I should have been, so I changed to a lacto-vegetarian eating plan.
This made additional improvements to my health and energy levels.
In latter years some Hygienists have moved away from this plan of eating to include some meat, and I now know the reason why..........lacto-vegetarianism or even veganism does not provide the necessary life-enhancing and life-sustaining DHA and EPA which are only available from an omnivorous diet.........................
It came as quite a shock to realize the full implications of the findings of Dr Fuhrman MD who (via Mouseclick bless him) had discovered that although
Shelton met his demise thru Parkinson's disease, we all assumed that the cause was from overwork and the gradual degradation of his myelin sheath which surrounds the nerves to keep them healthy; in truth the cause lay in a deficiency of DHA, an essential fatty acid not provided in sufficient quantities despite Sheltons impeccably nutritious diet.
I have only recently come to the conclusion that some meat is essential within the human diet but only in small amounts.
The question remains as to WHAT meat?
"The answer my friend is blowing in the wind"........oily fish such as salmon (wild caught from the Pacific Ocean), Tuna and other similar fish such as sardines and mackerel.
I also feel the extra benefit of this addition to my diet.
That leaves the question of red meat that is grass fed.
I would give a provisional "yes" to this meat as it also contains omega 3's in sufficiently bioavailable amounts.
Red meat though, along with other flesh foods is much harder to digest for humans than plant foods, so the "full" feeling you have experienced Willow for hours afterwards, only goes to prove the truth of this statement.
I am now of the opinion that flesh foods (organic and grass fed and/or Pacific caught fish) are an essential part of the human diet, but only in minimal amounts, as did the Hunzas in their own diet plan in achieving optimal health.
So there you have it........from vegan to lacto-vegetarian to Omnivore: the ideal diet of man.
Regards
