If grapefruit can interfere with medication, excessive ingestion of grapefruit might also be harsh on the body even without meds (just a thought).

Could it be that constantly eating too much grapefruit kills too much bacteria?

Even a healthy body naturally has alot of bacteria in the gut that would normally kill us (bad, bad bacteria), but is kept in balance.
