Re: Hysteria over swine flu EDITED
Mayor Bloomberg (New York City), who is a billionaire and owns Bloomberg Financial News (a very money minded person) had a news conference about the swine flu because New York has the most cases of swine flu in the U.S.A.. He's usually a calm and level headed person, but he said "Just wash your hands regularly and don't panic,...AND TOURISTS SHOULDN'T STAY AWAY FROM NEW YORK".
Most local and state politicians are likely frowning on releasing the truth becuse of loss of tourism dollars (federal politicians would probably be more indifferent about concealing the truth, what would they care if we cringe and panic?).

Society's hygeine practices in Europe made a reasonable environment for the beubonic plague, but in these modern times, I wonder how dedicated the U.S. government really is in eradicating the threat to the public.
This is an hour long radio show about "The real story behind the 1918 flu pandemic" (the first 6 minutes are only self promotional info, and it is not very informational until 30-40 minutes). He claims that most deaths in 1918 were from TUBERCULOSIS that males between ages 20-40 didn't know they had because of bad nutrition. That doesn't sound to me like
Science was ever really truly dedicated in getting to the root cause, just dedicated to making money from selling and developing vaccines. So, how much TRUE help in fighting this flu can really be expected?
