Re: Army Orders Soldiers To
Register Their Private Guns
This is not about Constitutional rights.
Someone cannot hide a secret gun on an army base. It's the same as someone bringing a gun on a college campus, and hiding it in their dorm room or car. And, we all know the results of that scenerio.
Every gun is America is supposed to be registered. If a soldier is shot on a base, law enforcement or the FBI lab have a right to trace that gun through ballistics. Therefore, the army has to know of any guns registered to each soldier -- and whether they are being stored at home, or on the base -- which I doubt is even allowed.
There's absolutely no privacy under these circumstances, and no such thing as feeling forced to reveal the gun's whereabouts -- and no reason in the world why a legitimate soldier would question this ultimatum -- unless he/she has non-legitimate plans on their mind.
In addition, there are different kinds of gun licenses that vary by each state. I don't believe it's even legal to transport any weapon -- across state lines, i.e. from a soldiers home state -- to an army base in another state. In fact, even the FBI, CIA, etc. cannot board an airline flight with a weapon -- unless they're granted special permission. So by what right would a soldier have to carry 'private' weapons with him/her...as they choose?
