Hi. Sorry I haven't responded to a lot of your messages. I've really been trying to put distance between myself and the nightmare of whatever I had and this website was really unhelpful and depressing.
Anyway, I did the cocktail therapy suggested on the badbugs site. It didn't really do anything except make me really sick for the week I was taking it and f+$k with my insides even more. I gave it a few weeks to work and then I went to see a tropical medicine doctor. If I can make a suggestion to anyone who is suffering from the kind of symptoms I had: do not go to a gastro specialist. They are idiots. They don't know how to look for anything. The good ones will admit that they don't know how to examine your stools. Go find a good tropical medicine doctor. You probably have a parasite. The good doctor I found had his own lab and looked at everything himself. He found evidence of parasites, and based on that prescribed a different cocktail that was a lot easier on my system and did the trick. Another word of advice: if the meds you were prescribed are making you feel sick, they are not doing what they're supposed to be doing. Metronidazole/Flagyl: made me feel awful and did nothing in spite of all the doctors who prescribed it assuring me that it was supposed to stop diarrhea. The 3 drug "badbugs" cocktail: not as bad as Flagyl, but still made me want to die.
Interestingly, the tropical medicine doctor I saw insisted that b.hominis was not pathogenic and he did not treat me for that but for a form of parasite.
By the way, I'm now in Southeast Asia and I've gotten sick a few times and thought it was a recurrence of whatever I had. I went to the doctors here and they gave me Cipro and it totally knocked whatever I had on its ass. So simple! I wish doctors in the US were as smart as they are here.
More advice: stop reading this forum. It was useless.
Get better, guys. I feel for all of you.
