"Fasting massively reduces your power output and any spare energy you have has to power your brain. I think lifting a few things will completely exhaust you, and you will ache, want to lie down and feel faint, and possibly will feint, which is pretty hazardous in a warehouse.
I found that just walking a lot on one day (unplanned) made me ache all over, and I slept for about 16 hours after it. Never again for me.
Fasts should be done with complete relaxation and sunshine."
Hi Micca,
I agree with Mouseclick that fasting "massively reduces your power output" and especially for heavy lifting and as i have personally tested and verified, for heavy cardio. 2-3 days sounds about right before you are wiped out, even your 2nd day could be very tough.
I believe people could work "if they had to", but a job requiring heavy lifting would be the hardest of all in a water fast, probably too hard for me to be willing to do it. And as Mouseclick said, it would wear you out to the point where you were wiped out and recovering in between shifts instead of relaxing and enjoying your fast. I have to believe we wouldn't be getting the best of what a fast has for us by straining ourselves so much.
I do however believe, at least for me, that brisk walking can be good if it is controlled... walk for an hour or so, you can stop when you want if it feels like too much... but yes, being forced to walk 5 hours (with no choice) could be another way to effectively wipe yourself out.
As an alternative, you might consider water fasting Friday (day 1 should be fine), Saturday and Sunday then do a juice fast or raw fruits and vegetables Monday thru Thurdsay, and then the next Friday you could water fast thru the weekend again. While still not providing 100% strength, juice makes me feel 10x more capable of heavy lifting than does water only.
