Re: strongly disagree with plant based diets

John Robbins, author of "Healthy at 100" conducted research on the oldest living people in the world and foind they had a mainly plant based diet

In contrast to that, there has been a lot of work by others such as T Colin Campbell //
Caldwell Esselstyn //
and many others such ad Drs Fuhrman, McDougal, Goldhamer, Lisle etc. More are listed here

In the book and movie "A Delicate Balance"
it is argued that our digestive system is not really geared up to eat meat, and it draws together some health stats from various sources.

In contrast, I can't find anything that says the same about a meat based diet, apart from the Weston A Price Foundation
However I distrust these people, having read about their links to the meat and livestock industry, and found one author who supports their cause misrepresented the findings of an article in the lancet which they were using to support the fact that meat does not cause cancer. Others distrust them too
It is generally agreed that the current meat we eat and they way in which we process it does cause cancer //
and so on
The message seems to be healthy meat in moderation.

Meat eaters do live long lives sometimes though. Jack Lalanne was once asked about George Burns, the famous comedian who made it to 100 though he smoked cigars, drank alcohol, and was not health oriented. Jack, it turns out, knew George Burns well, and he answered, “George Burns was more athletic than you think he was. And he was a very social man. He loved people, he enjoyed life. He worked at living. Old George was a social lion, he got around and did things. That’s the key right there. It starts with your brain.”

So there's probably more to longevity than just diet.
