Check out E-Bay
I, too, just purchased my first distiller recently. I bought a factory refurbished AquaVie on Ebay. Since MH cautioned that all table-top models break down, I thought it prudent (monetarily speaking) to ease myself in gently. My AquaVie makes one gallon every four hours. I notice some sediment/mineral deposits on the filter, though not overwhelming. I have well water in my home, and when we built the house, we upgraded the filtration/softener system. I also have a filtration system on my refrigerator and kitchen sink, so that reduces the amount of deposits in the water to begin with. All in all, so far I'm happy with my AquaVie (though I am certainly not an authority of distillers.) Again, heeding MH's sage advice, I drink less water than I used to and now opt for fresh fruit juices that I make with my newly acquired juicer. Delicious. Green apple/lemon being my favorite for the moment.
I'm happy with my arrangement so far...with the exception of (oh dear, MH - I know what you are going to say here, but please, be gentle)...my husband had emergency surgery because he got peritonitis from a ruptured diverticulitius. He was septic and almost died. So, now they removed six inches of his large intestine. This was on Monday night. He had a 104.5 fever and was screaming in pain when he was admitted. Although he has now vowed to follow whatever protocol I am following (inasmuch as I was the "sickly" one turned "witch"), I only hope that western medicine hasn't foiled any hope for him to now lead a heathly life. And while I am of the mindset that prevention and a back-to-basics approach is the path I will follow, I couldn't "preach the word" in the face of potentially losing my husband.
Okay, what is it about this forum that makes me blab so and share way too personal information? And why is it that I so trust the advice of someone I don't know from Adam? Ya got me there. But, I digress yet again.
PLG - I urge you to check EBay. They have many distillers there. And, if tabletop is the road you are choosing, start small and don't blow your whole tax return. If, in the end they all crap out, you'll feel better about your investment. Good luck.
I remain,
Gina
