"Just my two cents worth... For those who want to lose weight through fasting without compromising their metabolism, why not fast 2 days on and one day off? Or even one day fast and one day off and one day fast and two days off. On the days you eat, just eat healthy. Have a strawberry banana smoothie with raw ginger, cinnamon, raw agave syrup, unsweetened almond milk, flax oil.. It's terrible good :)......... At any rate, like I said, just a thought. Not sure if my idea works.."
In my opinion, more substantial periods of fasting with then more substantial periods of healthy eating is a better way to go. Entering in and out and in and out of fasts for one thing will bring about a fair amount of protein burning within the body which is not a desirable practice, especially as a week to week, month to month, year to year endeavor. However, i believe what you have done this week (24 hr, 49 hr, 25? hr) has very much been an excellent step for you.
Another factor that sways me is that generally speaking the deeper the fast the more beneficial it is. I'd rather go 3 days consecutively than go 1 day 3 times in a week... or go 7 days consecutively rather than 7 one day fasts over a month or two or three.
