Re: Is water fasting effective for weight loss?
Hi Mouseclick,
I believe that fasting can be an outstanding launching point and catylist for weight loss if and only if it is utilized to establish and maintain good eating and exercise habits (and to break bad habits if they were there).
In other words, a faster has to be very strong in his/her resolve to emerge healthy and maintain a disciplined lifestyle.
Otherwise, it can very much go the other way and a person could easily end up soon being heavier than before the fast began.
In this fast i had a particularly strong resolve to do things the right way. I began at 219.5. A ten day
Water Fast later and with an average of 2 brisk 1 hour walks per day i estimated my "real" weight to be 212.5, 7
pounds of real loss, though i was 199 on the scale (20.5 lbs). So at this point i estimated that 13.5
pounds of this 20.5
pounds was mostly water loss that could be counted upon to return.
Now 20 days after breaking the fast, through very healthy nutritional and exercise programs, i estimate my "real weight" to be 206.25 (13.25 real pounds down from pre-fast) while i am tipping the scales at 200.25 (19.25, still 6 pounds that i am expecting to see back, though maybe i am lucky and some of this was "excess water weight" that will not return).
Therefore, in this instance, i believe the fast helped me to get an outstanding start and helped me to maintain the excellent habits that i decided upon during the fast (and had to decide) that i would maintain.
