Re: There goes my fast! oops
Hi Marieln,
I really sense and believe that you want this... you should try again, but you have to have a very strongly predetermined mindset against eating and safeguards in place to help prevent it. For example, "if i am going to eat, i have to first drink 3 tall glasses of water and hopefully the strong craving will be gone by then")... and/or, "i have to drink the water And walk for 30 minutes". Promises you make to yourself that will allow you to break it if you absolutely must, but only after x, y, and/or z.
You actually made it 24 hours, yes? Even if it may not seem it to you, i believe that's a great start. If this was indeed your first fast, i honestly feel 24 hours is a very difficult accomplishment (i doubt if 90% of Americans have ever done it... most have likely very rarely missed a meal and probably believed they were starving to death when they did).
... and I genuinely believe where fasting is concerned, we get better with practice. I don't think i could in a million lifetimes have done 10 or 7 or even 5 days my very first try. But Reaching the 24 hour mark gives you confidence and something inside you to go further next time.
Perhaps next time you can set out to do "at least 48 hours no matter what"... and longer if possible, which of course is your wish.
PS: Another way to practice for a
Water Fast is with a juice fast... something i feel is quite a bit easier.
