Re: Extended Breastfeeding

"it was a sad time" that's too bad. I knew a mother who
brest-fed for a long time:the child was quite a precocious three year old and would regularly have tantrums of "want some breast!!" It was pretty gruesome to witness, and pretty clear that the whole issue between mom and daughter was complicated, and -yes- neurotic. There was a lot of guilt and
stuffing of the breast in the child's mouth to get her to shut up. it sounds like a horror, in the forum where we talk about obeying nature, but that's the so called "real world", so often. Overwhelmed people.

Then I know another mother who simply didn't feel 'bonded' to her son, and really tormented herself over that. Whenever he
fed, he would get colicky, and then she would try to feed him again. The whole thing was a catch-22.

(PS just thought it worth mentioning EFT, as a possible avenue of interest, when it comes to these emotionally-charged and complex situations). I wish I'd known about it years ago. On the other hand flower essences have really been a wonderful 'mother's' (and baby's!) support.
