Gently breaking 10 day water fast

I met my goal and broke my 10 day Water Fast on Wednesday night. My own advice (to myself) would have been to then have only juice for 2.5 days before fruits and vegetables, but in this instance (partly because of my logistics) i experimented with raw fruits and vegetables instead.

In previous fasts, mostly of about 7 days, breaking with juice gave me a really powerful surge of energy. Uphill walking which was becoming strained with water-only became exceedingly easier the very day i began drinking juices.

In this instance i had such a craving for raw spinach and fresh salsa (the salsa i had been smelling for 5 days when my feeling of hunger wouldn't go away :p), i felt it was still "light enough" and chose to go this route. Wednesday night and throughout thursday, i ate such raw foods as spinach, red bell peppers, mild fresh salsa, onions... and 2 grapefruit, 2-3 plumbs, some kiwi, some mango, a few grapes, and an apple.

Healthy foods all, i know. And seemingly very light and easily digested. But having done this experiment, i strongly believe i did not feel as great on thursday as i would have in an even lighter diet consisting only of fresh juice. I didn't feel sick in any way, but just "weak", as if i was still in the water fast. And tired actually, as if the newly fired up digestive system wore me out :). Slept 10 hours and needed it, whereas i believe had i been juicing all day i'd have slept 6-7 and felt amazing.

Decided on friday (today) to only drink juice all day and probably thru saturday before being so much better prepared for fruits and vegetables on sunday.

In summation, i will reiterate my strong belief that the best way to break a ten day Water Fast is with 2.5 days of fresh juice (1 day of juice for every 4 days of water)before proceeding to the next level of digestive challenge which is raw fruits and vegetables.

My theory on this by the way is that following a Water Fast we want to have exceedingly high nutrition with exceedingly low digestive challenge. Fresh juices provide both, raw fruits and vegetables take care of one, but not the other. They are of "low digestive" challenge, but compared to water only, the "exceedingly" modifier has to be dropped. The gentlest transition back towards solid foods needs to include a period of juicing.
