I am not 100% sure about the mucus... so you could be right. But I do know this, in a healthy bowel there is no fecal build up, and there is no mucus. Mucus seems to show up on colonoscopies when there is irritation. Much like it shows up in the sinuses in excess during a cold or flu.
It doesnt make sense to me that the body would produce excess mucus to move debris in the bowels... because that doesnt apear happen in a healthy body. But again you could be right, I havent done enough research in this area.
Now then what would cause excess fecal build up? This leads me back to Charlies forum, and his theory on the liver and the bile. Where by when the liver is put past its function ability, natural peristalsis is degenerated... leading to food going putrid in the bowels.
Anyway here is a neat video... which seems to suggest something along the Moreless protocol to better colon health. I am not so much suggesting the ML protocol, as much as I am showing that there are natural ways to colon health. This is protocol is natural because the body takes care of cleaning up the bowels on its own, rather than being forced.
